The owner of Sedona Second Home, Carone Cobden has a background in reporting and studied broadcast journalism at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. She conducted extensive research on and wrote about the congenital bone disorder, osteogenesis imperfecta, after doctors diagnosed her son with the disorder. This work positioned Carone Cobden as a central figure in the documentary Children of Glass.
Aired on the Discovery Health channel, Children of Glass uses Ms. Cobden’s story to introduce an exploration of osteogenesis imperfecta and those who suffer from it. The documentary provides details about this relatively rare disorder, which results in extremely brittle and easily broken bones in children and adults.
In addition to teaching viewers about the disorder, Children of Glass introduces several children with osteogenesis imperfecta. These children describe the near constant pain that the condition can cause. For example, one patient Sean Stephenson came into the world with numerous fractured bones.
